Frustration Station
About
Navigate an invisible train track to reach the exit! Use your whistle to briefly reveal the path ahead, collect cargo to upgrade your train, and try not to derail.
I built this game as an exercise in actually finishing something. I have a habit of letting projects grow until they're impossible to complete alone, so this time I forced myself to keep it small and ship it. Even though it doesn't feel "done" in the way I'd like, putting something out there for people to judge is genuinely uncomfortable, but that was kind of the point.
This game was designed to be played on desktop, but touch controls have been included for convenience, your experience may vary!
Would appreciate any feedback!
Controls
Keyboard
- A/D or Arrow Keys - Steer your train
- SPACE - Use Whistle (reveals path, speeds up train)
Touch (Mobile/Tablet)
- Left side - Press the up or down buttons to steer
- Right side - Press the Whistle button to use your whistle
How to Play
You can't see the track - only your whistle reveals it! Each level challenges you to navigate blind while:
- Collecting cargo to fill your upgrade meter
- Discovering new track tiles to recharge your whistle
- Reaching the exit before running out of retries
Upgrades
Spend upgrade points to power up your train:
- Foghorn - Increased whistle range and duration
- Max Rank: Revealed tiles linger longer
- Steam Tank - More whistle charges per level
- Max Rank: Charges regenerate over time
- Greased Rails - Tighter turning and cargo spacing
- Max Rank: Cargo bunches up on turns
- Second Wind - +3 retries per purchase (no rank limit)
Can you make it all the way to Frustration Station?
